I live a couple of miles from Southern States and decided to use them instead of the big name Home Depot and Lowes. The customer service at the Southern States store is non existent. I first contributed this to younger employees in college or first job and made certain that I lead by example. I then began seeing this in the older workers and management, people who have had work experience and should be more professional.
You know, that hello or good morning or looking you in the eyes with a smile. Instead I rarely received eye contact and a smile or hello was even more rare. When I had a question not once did a sales person walk up to me with as little as a how can I assist you. Instead I was made to feel that I was an inconvenience if I interrupted their conversation that was about outside experiences.
I was in the store the other day and when I walked up to the counter to pay for my merchandise instead of a hello the clerk stated “what you got”. Yes, what you got, all I could do was smirk and shake my head. After that day I decided not continue my business with Southern States I have decided to go back to the big name stores.
