Sears kme elite refrigerator purchased 11/27/2010 with master protection agreement for 3 years, stopped working 13 months & 2 weeks after I purchased it. According to the technician, the part needed would take 10 days to arrive, and I should inspect the part to see if it were damaged in shipping because if damaged I would need to send it back. I’m 65 years old, disabled and live 45 minutes from food. I called the parts department and was told there was nothing they could do to expedite shipping; I called the corporate office customer service department and was told that they couldn’t help me because I didn’t qualify for a new refrigerator.
I called the store where I purchased the refrigerator and was told by the assistant manager that the most he could do was submit a ticket to the corporate office, requesting a new refrigerator. Where ever I called to get some kind of service from Sears, I was stonewalled. It appears Sears will take my money with many assurances of service, but when I need immediate help as I need now, Sears’ answers from the many numbers I called was, “all we can do is try and locate the part”.
