I received the following SMS at 02:14 Date: 19.5.2011 (S.Africa time): Congratulation. It is our pleasure to inform you that your sim number has won 175k from our Nokia yearly promotion. Your PIN No is TV2. Contact (name witheld) at 0788415430 and make sure your pin is activated by your claim agent before transfer. Sent by No: +27712760430. I did not follow up on this as I asked my work colleagues to find out if it is a scam or not. The reply was yes. We as hardworking consumers have no time for false hopes and I request that this must be investigated.
I recieved a sms that reads – Congratulations for 2011 Nokia Promo, your cell no.won R250,000 call your claim agent Mrs Venessa on 0795685561 to activate your ticket no: 0166p from 7am to 6pm. I phoned them and they told me to activate your ticket i must buy a R200 telkom prepaid card. I tried to do so but didn’t get the card so I phoned and they told me I must get R220 vodacom voucher to activate, so I did it.
Also sceptical of giving them my bank account I asked if they can send it to me, this morning I got an sms that reads: FEDEX COURIER SERVICES: Please you are advice to pay the delivery fee of R1700,00 to enable us to deliver your cheque. call your claims agent for payment. So i phoned to find out why i must make the payment befor delivery. he insisted that i pay the money and keep the proof of payment to give to fedex and fax him a copy aswell so that he can let them know that the money has been paid and they can deliver tjek.
The Managers name is Jackson Morgan the numbers they use is 0815907644 and 08200703322171 (most probaley the internet) and 0730810157 the account number they gave me is Mr. A Ndzukuma account number 9266370963 Absa Bank.
