I bought a Everstart battery from the local Wal Mart store about three years ago. I went out tonight to take the wife over to her brothers house and the Battery was dead. I took my battery tester and checked the battery and it showed bad. When I bought the battery they told me it had a 7 year warrenty and the first two years it was free replacement. I got no paperwork to show this just his word. Well when I took the battery into the store to get it replaced, afirst thing the automotive store was closed at 8pm.
I went to customer service and they tol me that someone was there and just take the old battery back to the rear of the store for service. Well I walked to the rear of the store and no one was there, I returned to the Service desk and they then told me to go get the replace battery off the shelve and bring it to the service desk. I once again walked to the rear of the store and found the battery and put it in a cart and returned to the service counter.
By now I an totally worn out for I am 76 years old and not in the best of shape. Well the girl said that the battery was more than two years and they was no warrenty left. I said what about the prorated warrenty, she said they no longer do that. Well how can someone once they sell you something with a warrenty change the warrenty at a later date. Then the girl took a tester and put on the battery and said it just needed charged.
Look I spent almost 50 years in the Automotive business with my own service center in Tampa. I have tested thousands of batterys and sold and replaced thousands. and this little 20 year old girl is telling me the battery is no good. She said to leave the battery there and they would try to charge it the next day and then I could pick it up or pick up the replacement battery then. Well I for one only have one car, I had a Dr appointment the next morning at 9:15am and no way to get there.
So I said just give me the new battery and let me bend over. I intend to call the service center in the morning and talk to the manager and see if what she told me was right. But if it was that will be the last battery I ever buy from WalMart.
