Corporate Auto-Answer by Virgin Mobile

I am so very tired of calling companies and getting an auto-answer that goes on for eternity. I called Neopost today to return a call and had a full postage machine commercial before I was given serveral options to dial. None of those options included a way to reach the extension the salesperson left on her message to me. I called Virgin Mobile last night and after theis very loud noise/music comes on, a happly little voice called Alex tells me he is going to help get my service up an running.

I dialed 0, 00, 000, yelled “tech support”, yelled “agent”, yelled “help” and little Alex just kept babbling about how I should connect my device then dial 1, do this and then dial 1, do that and then dial 1. I finally had to go thru the whole process of dialing 1 – 7 times to be exact and then when he asked if my service was working I dialed 2 for “no” and was transferred to an “agent” who barely spoke English. I understand not paying for a receptionist. I don’t pay for one myself, but when someone calls my office they get a audible, understandable, short, friendly greeting and immediate know how to reach the person they need.

Come on people. It aint that hard to make a customer feel important and appreciated, even without a warm body initially answering.
